Everyday habits
- Wipe down with a dry, soft cloth after use to lift dust and body oils.
- Never dry wet leather with heat — no hairdryers or direct sun. Blot and air-dry at room temperature; heat cracks the surface.
- Stuff bags and shoes with paper to hold their shape when not in use.
Conditioning
Leather needs its natural oils replenished. Condition every 3–6 months with a proper leather conditioner to prevent drying and cracking. Wipe on thinly, let it absorb, buff off. Test on a hidden patch first.
The monsoon mould problem
Damp cupboards are where leather goes to die. To prevent white mould bloom:
- Store in a breathable cotton dust bag, never plastic.
- Keep silica-gel sachets in bags and near stored leather.
- Air stored jackets and bags on dry days.
